A ‘bit’ of background on our logo.
A little over fifteen years ago now, I moved from ponies onto horses. It was around then that I was passed a a few things that a family friend had kept stored away, having sold their horses and exited their equestrian careers.
Amongst the many items, a Gleneagles Equestrian Centre ceramic cookie jar, a handful of Mark Phillips video tapes (which I watched to death) and a snaffle bit…
Having only ever ridden Athen in various rubber happy mouth options, I’d never had a ‘grown-up’ bit. So, I looked up my various books, manuals and the internet to see if I could identify exactly what it was!
A Sprenger Aurigan Snaffle.
My research returned that Aurigan was an exclusive metal alloy to Sprenger, that resulted in a high activity of chewing and optimal oxidation. Delighted with my findings, the bit was transferred straight onto my bridle and ridden in the very next day.
That bit it still hanging on Shadow’s bridle right now.
