Meet Holly.
“The best part of my life has been spent around horses – in every sense of the word!”
I came up through the ranks as a riding school yard helper, riding and caring for horses of all shapes & sizes. By the age of 10 my first pony arrived and pony club began…
Athen has a lot to answer for! He wasn’t (& still isn’t) an easy ride but he taught me all about the importance of a good partnership. Once he was satisfied that he’d trained me up, the rosettes weren’t far behind!!
I’ve competed across all disciplines, with my love lying mostly in Showjumping.
For me, developing young horses has been one of the most rewarding parts of this hobby. My latest purchase, Shadow, is no different. Now at 7 years old, we’re starting to reap the rewards of his basic training! Lot’s more still to learn & plenty more to achieve…
Holly at a glance;
My horse - The infamous Shadowman! My very large, but very lovable Irish Sports Horse. We also still have little Ath with us, enjoying his 20’s with a super loan rider.
My day job – I’ve spent the last 6 years as a Sales Executive for some really exciting brands. However my degree was actually in Marketing!
My competition record – BS, BE, Workers and more… BD Coming soon ( I promise!)
My BHS Qualifications – Late to the party on this one…2025 should see me through my Stage 2 Coach and Stage 3 Complete.
Biggest equine adventure – Camp America. Teaching at a ‘British horseback riding’ barn in North Carolina.
Biggest equestrian achievement – This one is hard to choose as Shadow does me proud every outing… But it’s got to be getting around Grassroot BE at Blair in his first ever season. (& with a clear SJ!)
Current equine portfolio – This is ever-growing. It currently includes grooms work at private and competition yards, clipping & show prep, exercise riding as well as backing and educating.
My ‘known-for’ trait – Being overly fussy about presentation; dampened manes, tidy stables and organised tackrooms to name but a few! Poor Shadow never gets to go anywhere without his four white socks gleaming. Even riding club lessons!
My favourite ‘horsey’ job – The projects and the young’uns! I love the progress – it’s addictive.
